Research

Companies and Organisations can benefit from implementing mental health programs into their wellbeing programs, specifically Positive Psychology Interventions (PPIs), to help their employees overcome psychological blocks for increased productivity. These interventions add value to a companies “PsyCap” or Psychological Capital defined below.

An individual’s positive psychological state of development that is characterized by: (1) having confidence (self-efficacy) to take on and put in the necessary effort to succeed at challenging tasks; (2) making a positive attribution (optimism) about succeeding now and in the future; (3) persevering toward goals, and when necessary, redirecting paths to goals (hope) in order to succeed; and (4) when beset by problems and adversity, sustaining and bouncing back and even be- yond (resiliency) to attain success.

The benefits can be felt across the organisation, within a department, or within an individual employee and include the acronym HERO:

  • H: Redirection goals enhancing Hope to succeed
  • E: Increased emotional self-Efficacy or employee confidence
  • R: Increasing work engagement and employee Resiliency
  • O: Enhancing employee and organisational wellbeing and Optimism

Our workplace PPI research looks into the application of these psychological tools and techniques in workplace settings. Our research offers insights, recommendations, and education of the evidence base so you are able to make an informed decision on whether implementing a PPI program is right for you.
